Are you wondering how we are getting around?  Below is the Beast, our mobile hotel, storage unit and restaurant in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

the Beast in the Black Hills, South Dakota

Driving, eating and sleeping in the Beast has been interesting.  We are able to travel fast and light basically carrying everything we need with us wherever we go.    Need to move?  The Beast is able to do 75+ mph on the Interstate without a problem averaging about 16 mpg.  Internet?  A mobile hot spot keeps us connected to the world and allows us to plan our trip on the fly.  Cold?  Get the cold weather clothes from attic (the Tule).  Hungry?  Find a park, pond, lake, etc. and set up the camping stove and boil water from the cooler.  Tired?  I give Rangel a 10 minute warning, she moves our suitcases to her front seat and starts pumping up an inflatable mattress.  Once we arrive at a suitable camping spot I take out the cooler and cooking box from the back and we snuggle in to our full size bed.  I adjust the temperature by opening the windows and sunroof.  Here is Rachel being served breakfast in blankets in Montana after the cooler and cooking box were replaced and the mattress deflated.   Potty Break?  El naturale with skills taught by Auntie Ne.  In the first week we completed the trifecta of treeing:  peeing, pooping and puking!
